Frequently asked questions

How do I apply for a government scholarship as a school student?

Central schemes such as NMMSS and pre-matric scholarships are applied for on the National Scholarship Portal (scholarships.gov.in). In Karnataka, state pre-matric scholarships are applied for through the State Scholarship Portal (ssp.karnataka.gov.in). Each card on this page links to the official page of that scheme; read its rules there before applying.

Which documents are usually asked for?

Usually asked, but check each scheme: income certificate, caste certificate where the scheme is for a category, last year's marks card, a bank account in the student's or parent's name that is linked (seeded) with Aadhaar, a school bonafide or study certificate, and a photograph.

Do I have to pay anyone to apply?

No. Government scholarships are free to apply for on their official portals. Never pay an agent to get a scholarship. We do not charge anything for this list either.

Why are some scholarships marked 'Dates not announced'?

The scheme runs most years, but the official page did not yet show this year's dates when we checked. Watch the official portal; many school scholarships open between June and October.

Is this a complete list?

No. We list only scholarships we could verify on an official page, and we keep adding to it. If you know a scholarship we are missing, or a date has changed, send it to us on WhatsApp and we will check it.
