Make a transfer certificate (TC)
Many boards and states prescribe their own TC format or require the TC to be generated from a government portal. Check your board's affiliation rules and your state's student-tracking system first. This generator is for schools that have no prescribed format.

TL;DR: A transfer certificate (TC) records a student's details and school history when they leave. Check first whether your board or state prescribes its own TC format or portal. If it does not, fill in the generator above: it writes the date of birth in figures and words and prints only the certificate. The principal signs it and adds the school seal.
Check your board's rules first
Many boards and state governments set their own TC format, and some require TCs to be generated through a state student-tracking portal so the student's record moves to the new school. Your affiliation or recognition rules are the authority. Use this generator only where no format is prescribed, for example for a pre-primary section or a coaching institute that issues leaving certificates.
The usual fields on a TC
| Field | Tip |
|---|---|
| Admission number | Exactly as in the admission register |
| Student's, father's and mother's names | Same spelling as earlier certificates |
| Nationality | As recorded at admission |
| Date of birth in figures and in words | Words prevent alteration |
| Date of admission and class admitted to | From the admission register |
| Class last studied | And whether the student qualified for promotion |
| Whether all dues are paid | Record the fact; check your state's rules before withholding a TC |
| Date of and reason for leaving | For example, parent's request or transfer |
| General conduct and remarks | Keep remarks factual |
How to use the generator
- Read the note above about prescribed formats.
- Fill in the details from the admission register, not from memory.
- Check the date of birth in words that the generator writes.
- Click Print or save as PDF, then have the principal sign it and add the seal.
- Enter the TC number and date in your TC register.
Good habits
- One running TC series, recorded in a TC register with the date of issue.
- Never issue a duplicate casually. If a TC is lost, issue a copy clearly marked "Duplicate" after checking the register.
- Keep names and dates consistent with the bonafide and study certificates issued earlier.
Certificates in EduTechMonitor
In EduTechMonitor, the school management software made by Sajre Edutech in Dharwad, the office prints transfer, bonafide and study certificates and student ID cards from the student's record. Uploads to government portals such as SATS or UDISE+ are not available yet; student lists export as CSV files that open in Excel. See school admission software and student records.
Frequently asked questions
What details does a school transfer certificate have?
Usually the admission number, the student's and parents' names, nationality, date of birth in figures and words, date of admission, the class last studied, whether the student qualified for promotion, whether dues are paid, the date of and reason for leaving, conduct and remarks, with the principal's signature and seal.
Does every school use the same TC format?
No. Many boards and states prescribe their own TC format or require the TC to be generated from a government portal. Check your board's affiliation rules and your state's student-tracking system first; use this generator only if no format is prescribed.
Why is the date of birth written in words on a TC?
Writing it in words as well as figures makes it harder to alter and avoids confusion between day and month. The generator writes it for you, for example Fifteenth March Two Thousand Twelve.
Can a school hold back a TC because fees are pending?
Rules differ by state and board, and some prohibit withholding a TC for unpaid fees. The TC can record whether dues are paid, but check your state's rules before refusing to issue one.
Is this TC generator free?
Yes. It is free, needs no login and works in your browser. Nothing you type is saved or sent to us.
