Attendance percentage calculator

Attendance now

79.2%

Days still to come

80

working days left this year

Highest possible

87.5%

if present every remaining day

To finish the year at 75%, the student needs 55 more days present out of the remaining 80, so can miss at most 25 more days.

Formula: attendance % = days present ÷ working days × 100. Your board's circular decides which days count and who is exempt; this tool only does the arithmetic.

TL;DR: Enter the working days held so far, the days the student was present and the total working days planned for the year. The calculator shows the attendance percentage now, how many more days the student must attend to finish at 75% (or your own target), and how many days they can still miss.

The formula

Attendance % = days present ÷ working days held × 100.

To finish the year at a target, a student must be present on at least target × total working days days, rounded up. With 200 working days and a 75% rule, that is 150 days. If the student has been present 95 days so far, they need 55 more.

Using it in your school

  • Check every month, not in January. By the time board forms are due, there are too few days left to recover. A monthly check lets the class teacher call the family while it still helps.
  • Use your real calendar. Total working days come from your school calendar. Change it if the school adds or loses days.
  • Board rules decide. For CBSE, see our guide to the CBSE 75% attendance rule for dates, exemptions and how shortage cases are handled.

Doing this for a whole class

A calculator works one student at a time. When attendance is marked daily in software, the percentage for every student is already there. In EduTechMonitor, teachers mark attendance from a phone or computer, the office sees attendance reports, and parents see their own child's attendance in their login. See school attendance software.

Frequently asked questions

How is attendance percentage calculated?

Attendance % = days present ÷ working days held × 100. For example, 95 days present out of 120 working days is 79.2%.

How many days can a student miss and still have 75%?

Multiply the total working days in the year by 0.75 and round up: that is the number of days the student must be present by the end of the year. Subtract the days already present to get the days still needed; the remaining working days minus that number is how many more days the student can miss.

What if 75% is no longer possible?

If the student's highest possible percentage, even with full attendance from today, is below the target, the calculator says so. Talk to the family early and check your board's current rules on attendance shortage and exemptions.

Which days count as working days?

Days the school actually held classes for that student's class, as per your school calendar and your board's rules. Holidays and days before the class started teaching are not counted.

Is this calculator only for CBSE?

No. The arithmetic is the same for any board or college rule. Change the required percentage if your board or school uses a different figure.
